all About Melissa
Melissa Spake is a professional photographer who specializes in wedding photography, serving the Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC and Raleigh, NC areas.
She has been shooting weddings as for over five years. She also shoots special events, family portraits and solo portrait photography.
Melissa won second place in a South Carolina state photography contest for her black and white film photography taken at a Charleston plantation.
Her photography for the popular dog product company, Harry Barker, has not only been featured on their website, but also in magazines including InStyle , Country Living & Skirt. She will also be featured with 9 other photographers in The South Magazine's Feb/March 2015 "Best Of" issue.
Melissa grew up stealing her mother's camera and "wasting film" taking pictures of just about everything like grass, the road and people
Her first "real" camera was a 1972 Nikon found in her parents' basement. Although it was very heavy, Melissa took photos of everything she could and eventually enrolled in a photography class where she learned how to develop her own film among other skills.
While attending college, Melissa enrolled in two digital photography classes with her replacement camera, a Cannon Rebel
After graduating with an early child education degree, she began taking photos for friends and their friends through word of mouth as a side business. Her first wedding was through a friend and she was hooked. She began taking more online classes and meeting other photographers to learn whatever she could. Eventually replaced her Cannon with another Nikon and now shoots with a Nikon D7500 and uses such lenses like a 50mm and 70-200mm.
Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life.
And after all is said and done, all that remains are your photos. Trust those most precious moments to Melissa Spake.
