Dr. Justin Scott might contest the phrase, "practice makes perfect." He believes that even the utmost dedication won't upgrade your golf swing to its maximum potential; to reach that plateau, you need to eliminate physical limitations of the body. At Pittsburgh Golf Fitness, he merges his expertise as a Certified Golf-Fitness Instructor and a Certified Titleist Medical Professional, creating individualized programs that focus on common physical hindrances.
First, he assesses each client with 13 physical screenings. These help identify the most pertinent problems in the way of improved golf performances, such as decreased shoulder mobility or a constantly piggybacking caddy. He then builds a custom fitness regimen out of techniques from the Titleist Performance Institute. These various stretches, strength exercises, and functional drills aim to offset specific weaknesses and perfect the kinematic sequence—the correct order in which parts of the body should pass through the plane of the ball during a swing. His programs can benefit players of all experience levels, with maneuvers performed at home, in the gym, or in the private facilities of Scott Spine and Rehabilitation Center, where Scott acts as the doctor on call.
