Despite the Mud Dog Run's tough 5K course, racers usually finish this race—they just don't always make a clean finish. That's because during the race, they're not only tackling obstacles, but also diving headfirst into mud pits and crawling through muck. Those that cross the finish line are rewarded with a pint glass to take home. During Halloween, the course throws an extra curve ball at participants by turning it into a zombie-themed obstacle course. But there's more to this heart-pumping race than just a good time: proceeds go to help build water wells in communities in Ghana.
