In her quest to become a certified health coach, Barbara English attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where she studied under such heralded wellness experts as Drs. Andrew Weil and Deepak Chopra. From them, she gleaned more than 100 dietary theories as well as an array of coaching and lifestyle management tactics. It's with this cache of knowledge that English now ushers clients toward healthier lifestyles at BE Your Perfection Outdoor Boot Camp.
Rather than taking a one-diet-fits-all approach, English tailors her health and fitness plans to each client's body, lifestyle, and goals. This she accomplishes holistically through the Integrative Nutrition Plate—a graphic representation of a "plate" that displays proper portion sizes. And because eating habits can be affected by outside factors, the plate is surrounded by the following labels: relationships, careers, spirituality, and physical activity. For physical activity, English—an AFAA-certified group fitness instructor—schedules outdoor boot camp classes that give people the strength to pick up a deer. For the rest, she works individually with clients to help them achieve a healthier, happier lifestyle.
