The food was prepared perfectly, from the real onion rings to the seafood dishes. The waitress made us feel appreciated and important to them. We will return. Teresa and I enjoyed that it was a quiet night when we were there on a Wednesday.

Very friendly place which we enjoyed. Great patio outside. Salad could have been fresher and the portions could have been larger.

Overall terrible experience! Steamed oysters were so bad that they couldn't be eaten...smelled horrible. Fish and Chips dish was overcooked and fries were cold and looked as if they had been refried or warmed. Asparagus was mushy. We ordered Alfredo without veggies and received it with a large mound of the mushy asparagus on top. Management offered no apologies. Worst restaurant experience.

They apparently didn't understand how groupons work. The groupon was for 2 dinner entrees for $20.00. They were actually trying to charge me an extra $8.00 because the prices of the entrees were $14.00. The manager had to call his mother, who's the owner, to try and straighten it out. This ordeal took about 20 minutes. The food was not worth the hassle. It's definitely not worth a return trip. There were other problems on this trip but let's just say I'm totally through with this place.

This restaurant was far more concerned with matching the exact details of the certificate than making the customer happy. I went once and was told I couldn't use the coupon because I didn't have 4 people in my party, but if I had purchased 4 entrées it would work. I went back to the restaurant a second time with only 2 people, but told them that I wanted to purchase 4 entrées. Their response was, No, sorry, we don't know who told you that but we can't honor the certificate unless there are 4 people in your party. The waitress then had to make a special request to see if they would honor the face value of the certificate. In effect, it was bait and switch.

I went to school with the owner James. We had high hopes because they have a cool concept, but the service was horrible, the food was bad. To top it off the other manager tried saying we couldn't use our groupon on weekends, which wasn't stated anywhere on our groupon. These guys need to do a lot of work or I'm afraid the business is going to go under!

From Our Editors

When James Hughes, Steven Ramsey, and Matthew Connors moved to Florida together, they fished and lounged on the beach all day and worked at restaurants and bars all night. After returning to the Carolinas, the trio opened Sharkey's Raw Bar & Grill to capture the spirit of their favorite beachside pastime and the infectious energy of the area’s bustling nightlife. The private chef for the Masters golf tournament for five years, executive chef Steven steams, grills, and fries some of the ocean’s tastiest catches, including shrimp, oysters, crab, and fish. His menu also unfolds with crab-cake sandwiches, 10-ounce rib-eye steaks, and gator bites most popular with vengeful pirates with hooks for hands.

A second-place-award winner in the 2011 National Bartending Competition, Matthew manages a full stock of liquor that washes down each bite. Diners can dig in at the outdoor seating area or in the spacious 125-seat dining room, which evokes an oceanic feel with a large mural of octopi, sharks, fish, and a sunbathing Poseidon. Along with their fresh seafood, Sharkey's Raw Bar & Grill entices guests with live music every Friday and Saturday night.
