“It’s more about the experience than the game,” writes the scribe of Doug’s Arcade’s blog, “We lose so much by staying at home cooped up in our bedrooms texting and playing endless games of World of Warcraft.” As a response to this ever-increasing alimentation in the gaming world, Doug’s Arcade has made its overarching goal to get people playing in a public space again.
To that end, interaction with other human beings and, of course, the tactile feel of a good ole’ fashioned joystick reign supreme here. For instance, you’ll be able to cheer someone on as they shoot for the high score on Terminator 2 before taking a turn yourself or relishing in the old-fashioned charms of a vintage pinball machine. Of course, if you want to try something a little more modern, you and your cadre of button smashers can always strap on the VR headset and experience the latest in immersive gaming.
