If I can give this business a zero, I would. I am writing this review because this business does not honor it's words. Let's start off by saying that the Groupon given to me by my friend Alejandra, was a birthday gift. I called to book an appointment and was asked if I have been there before. I replied, "Yes, a couple years back for color." The receptionist informed me that the Groupon voucher is only for "first time customers", that I should call Groupon to get a refund. I proceed to say, "It was a birthday gift from my friend, Alejandra. I would have to tell her to contact Groupon then." The receptionist said, "I did not hear you say it was a gift. In that case, we will honor your Groupon" and proceed to book my appointment. The receptionist ended the phone call with, "I'm sorry for the confusion and we look forward to seeing you etc.." I commuted an hour and half from Middletown, CT, where I was residing to my hair appointment that Saturday, January 6th. I booked mine and my friend, Nicole hair appointments at 3:15pm and I arrived at 3:30pm. I called to inform the salon I was running a few minutes late and they said it was fine as they are running behind with other clients today. When I arrived, my friend, Nicole that I had purchased and booked the same exact Groupon voucher for her Christmas present, was still being seen by the hair dresser. I booked two haircut appointments, side by side, so Nicole and I could be done with our hair appointments together. I was informed the same hair dresser, that was doing Nicole's hair would do mine. I ended up waiting an extra hour, until 4:30pm to be seen for my hair appointment. I patiently waited and when the hair dresser was ready for me, she informed me, that I cannot use the same Groupon for two haircuts. I explained it was a completely different Groupon voucher, that it was a gift given to me by my friend, Alejandra. The hair dresser had exchanged words with the receptionist and owner, Lukas. The hair dresser comes back to me and said, "So I was just informed by the owner, Lukas, that he had done your hair in the past, therefore, we cannot honor your Groupon voucher, as it is only for first time customers." I said, "The receptionist did say it was for first time customers, however, she then said the salon would honor it because it was a gift given to me." The hair dresser never came back, she proceed to take another client in her chair. Extremely unprofessional. The receptionist comes up to me and said, "Who did you speak with? Because it wasn't me that you spoke to." I said, "I did not get her name but it was a pretty lengthy conversation because she managed to book me in the system." The receptionist then said, "I am sorry but the best thing we can offer is 20% off our original price for a haircut which comes out to $68." I asked to speak to the owner, Lukas. I see him literally 8 feet away, two chairs from me and he would not look my way. The receptionist said, "He has 4 clients and he's backed up." I said, "Okay, please have him call me. Because this is completely unprofessional when the other receptionist answered that day, booked my appointment knowing that I have been here before and said this establishment would honor my Groupon voucher because it was given as a gift so that receptionist said they'll honor it. Now you're saying you won't when I drove an hour and half, waited an extra hour to only be turned down." It is unfortunate because the only reason I mentioned Haus of Magnum to my friend, Alejandra to purchase for me as my birthday present and also got my friend, Nicole a haircut there for her Christmas present was because I knew Lukas and wanted to support his salon because it is fairly new. For someone that knows the owner, I am extremely upset how he and staff poorly handled this situation. In addition, the details or fine print on the voucher or site NEVER specifies, "first time customers only." I tried to give Lukas the benefit of the doubt but he never even attempted to call and rectify this situation. I hope others have a better experience than I did, if they chose to give this salon a try. I personally will never go back or refer anyone to this salon again.
