From Our Editors
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We are more than just another thrift store. A volunteer supported non-profit, we carry furniture, clothing and home décor, Haitian handmade metal art, jewelry, and coffee. We also have the Mango Tree, a frozen yogurt shop where you can stuff your cup for as little as $2!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
We wanted to benefit people locally by providing a higher quality, second-hand item at a lower cost, while giving them a way to help those in poverty in Haiti. Funds from this store help transform lives and communities. We also give back to local churches and the homeless through donation programs.
What do you love most about your job?
Knowing the good our work is doing! Through our stores and donations, we have been able to feed over 4 million meals, educate over 1,200 children, create 7,000 day jobs, build over 600 safe homes, donate 150 handicap carts, and reach 30,000 people. That is amazing!
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
A lady came into the store and immediately pulled a staff member aside. She asked if this was really a thrift store. When we explained that it is and what we do, her jaw dropped as she said: "How did I not know about this store until now! This is incredible!". We get similar reactions a lot!
