For every meal at Boondocks Dining Room and Lounge, there's a house sauce that elevates its flavor. Lunch, for example, might consist of hand-trimmed, beer-battered, and fried local haddock, the centerpiece of the fish 'n' chips plate. But it's the house tartar sauce, not the fries or the British accent that they cause, that truly makes the dish complete. Similarly, an English dinner of liver, bacon, and onion gets its oomph from homemade gravy, and a weekend brunch helping of eggs benedict features kitchen-fresh hollandaise sauce on its handcrafted biscuits.
Those thoughtful culinary touches unify a menu sporting a diverse array of dishes. Seafood such as Atlantic mussels from Ship Harbour and scallops compete for the spotlight with British pub fare, including steak and ale pie, bangers and mash. Sweet notes continue on into the dessert offerings, which feature a rotating selection of cheesecakes and sticky toffee pudding.
