Didn't like it.......There was no where to sit.......when you did find a spot...they kept moving you. And the big disappointment was there was no narration to tell you about the city or harbor or anything......they never uttered a word. Just kept shoving you around. PLUS it said a 90 minute tour........we were lucky if it was 45 minutes............I would never recommend this tour.........Eck! Waste of time and money.
We prefer the Silva. She's a lot bigger with a lot more room and a lot more comfortable. We were actually married on the Silva, a truly fantastic place to have a wedding!
The merchant cancelled the trip at the final hour. Did offer ride out on another ship or a refund but it was our only day there so. We had to take the refund
Wonderful cruise of halifax harbour and the crew was great
It could have been more interactive - little snippets of history etc from the crew. Music - it doesn't have to be rock or whatever but something to enhance the atmosphere. Because of the amount of people going, it doesn't have the romantic evening sail feel so music can enhance that feel. It would be nice if they went a little further out rather than just hung about George's Island.
Lots of motoring in the harbor, not much chance to sail. Hadn't been to Halifax prior to getting this Groupon and wouldn't have tried sailing there after seeing it.
We plan on going again this year, and bringing my mother in law too!
From Our Editors
Buoyed by the winds and guided by skilled crews, the Tall Ship Silva and tall ship _Mar_—a 130-foot schooner and a 75-foot ketch respectively—allow passengers to explore Halifax Harbour while gently cresting swells and gliding across calm waters. Morning, afternoon, evening, and moonlit tours leave whenever conditions permit. These outings can provide guests with distinctive views of the Halifax skyline, George's Island and its iconic lighthouse, and any marine life that happens to swim past the vessels. Although passengers have the opportunity to simply sit back and enjoy the sights, they can also take a more active role by asking about local landmarks or assisting crew members as they set sails and blow into the mainmast whenever the winds die down.
The Tall Ship Silva and the Mar also cater to groups' needs by providing them with access to modern amenities throughout each voyage. Each vessel includes below-deck lounging areas, washroom facilities, and a fully licensed bar area where guests can savour anything from a locally brewed beer to a single-malt scotch. The larger Tall Ship Silva also has space for additional features intended to make outings every more luxurious. A wide outdoor deck lined with varnished wood seating allows as many as 150 passengers to pick their favourite view of the harbour and settle in for a while.
