Pretty pricey for a place that had a $15 groupon for $8. Usually it's enough for 1-2 meals, this time it barely covered one for the very cheapest sushi.

Here's the review my friend wrote: I had a rather unique dining experience here with a friend last week. Take is located in a nice hotel on a dodgy part of Los Angeles. It's hard to find, but they do have free valet parking. We were on our way to a Country concert and quite under dressed for the semi elegant dining room. I would say that this is more if a business casual attire restaurant. We had a Groupon, but I thought that the prices were ridiculous for the food that we ate. The menu items are half Korean and half Japanese. We ordered California Rolls as appetizers. It was a very large portion, but nothing spectacular. I had tempura udon for my main course and have had much better for half the price. My friend ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap, which he enjoyed and of which our server informed us that it was a favorite dish of Michael Jackson. No, M.J. has not dined at Take! We kept getting little surprises that I called "Bonus Food". After ordering we were told about the salad bar- cabbage, chopped veggies and a dressing assortment. They also brought several small plates of Korean appetizers to our table. They brought us very good miso soup. We also were brought a large plate of fresh fruit for dessert. None of the food was amazing, but it was certainly plentiful. The servers were competent and helpful, although not overly friendly. On our table we discovered a bell to ring for service. We didn't use it and neither did the other patrons. It could have quickly become very annoying, especially since the restaurant was quiet as a library!

It's not sushi. It's more like platters of mixed fish and questionable items. The fish quality was horrible. Pieces of raw fish should melt in your mouth not feel like rubber. If anyone goes there I truly hope your experience is better than mine was.

This was not what I was expecting. I expected a sushi house. The food that I did have, though was very good and the service was excellent. I just think the groupon should say that this is a fine dining experience. I arrive totally underdressed and it was hard to locate.

I ordered to go and it took about 1/2 hour to get my food, which is not convenient given I was on my lunch break. But, the food was really good.

From Our Editors

Expert chefs at Take Sushi stuff classic rolls with deftly chopped seafood to pile high on plates and compartmentalized bento boxes. Located within walking distance of Koreatown inside the Oxford Palace Hotel & Galleria, the eatery also plates Korean fare such as broiled sea eel and barbecue short ribs.
