We had a bad experience with Aqua Zone in the Waikiki Beach Marriott. The first time we tried to pickup the gear, they said there was nothing available. The next time we tried, they only had very old beat-up gear. Since we were on vacation, we figured we might as well pick it up or we'd not use the groupon. They required our credit card as a deposit. We did not have it with us since we were walking over to the beach. We asked if we could use our Marriott room number or PADI ID. They insisted we go back to our hotel room to get our credit card before giving us the gear. We used the gear once. When we returned it, the staff said we damaged it and she was going to charge our credit card. She said the old fin had a crack in it, likely from someone standing on it. I'm PADI scuba certified. I know how to use gear and definitely did not damage the fin. We were disappointed in the lack of availability, the quality, and the overall experience.

Staff are friendly and helpful. The best part of the snorkle trip is the opportunity to see turtles!

Great place to rent your equipment. They showed us how to use it and gave us a map for great snorkelling locations.

We booked a snorkeling trip for 4 people, there were 4 more snorkelers on board . The boat also had approximately 9 scuba divers on the boat. The crew(3) was 99% only interested in the scuba divers. The divers all got instructions and after the scuba divers were in the water did the boat captain say "Are you getting in the water". My wife said "After we get masks and snorkels" . The captain then started to get the equipment ready. No instructions, no directions as to where the sea turtles might be. The captain put some food in the water so as to attract some fish. We did this same trip in February 2014 and was fantastic. The 2014 trip there was a crew member in the water with us, pointing where to go, taking fantastic underwater pictures of everyone and the sea turtles and other underwater animals.... This January 2016 was very poor. I would not recommend this current trip. In fact I would tell you to go somewhere else, if you were snorkeling. Brian of Rockwall, TX.

They were out to lunch the first time we dropped by, so you might want to call before you go by.

This staff is awesome and this is a not to be missed experience in Oahu. We saw sea turtles including babies, dolphins and flying fish.

From Our Editors

Aqua Zone Scuba Diving & Snorkeling Center owner and captain Devon Merrifield and his team of certified instructors and staff share a deep love for Honolulu's sprawling, clear coastal waters. Each member of the nine-person crew sought Hawaii's warm waters after garnering experience along faraway shores in places such as Oregon, Thailand, and Kansas. Today, the sprightly team shares its passion for the sea via snorkeling and scuba-diving tours, cruises along the reef or to shipwreck sites, and onsite or in-pool diving training. Throughout each excursion, Aqua Zone's staff remain committed to sea turtle conservation, informing customers of the endangered creatures' lifestyle, behavior, and ecosystem. Staff members also sanitize each of the dive center's silicone dry snorkels and masks, as well as prescription masks, after each use, leaving divers worry-free so they can focus on ventures such as braiding an octopus's tentacles.
