I am a pediatrician and unfortunately, did not have a good experience here and would not recommend it - they gave us false medical information that would have otherwise terrified parents who are not in the medical field. We are expecting our 3rd child and our baby did not want to cooperate - had his hand in front of his face the entire time. The first ultrasound tech that started scanning us told us that she would not start the timer of our 30 minute session until she got a clear view of his face without his hand blocking it, and if she was not able to get a good view, then we would be able to reschedule for a different day. After trying for a while and not getting a good view, she had me get up, walk, and she got me a cold cup of water to drink. At that point, another ultrasound tech came in (I suspect she was the supervisor) and said she was going to try. She started the timer for the session immediately and although she never got a clear view of the baby's face, she just kept on going - never mentioned rescheduling. Fine. Not a big deal - at least my older 2 children got a glimpse of the baby's eyes and nose. Here's what really disappoints me. The 2nd tech told me that part of the reason that she could not get a good view of the baby's face was because "my placenta had taken place". I asked her to clarify what she meant by that. She said that the placenta takes its position about 2-3 weeks before delivery. She then asked if my other 2 children were preterm deliveries because she suspected this one would be. I was 32+4 weeks at this ultrasound, and she said that maybe if I were already 35 weeks then I'd make it to 38 weeks, but seeing as how I was only 32 weeks and my "placenta had taken its position," I only had a few weeks to go. I knew this was false information, but went ahead and verified it with my Ob and searched through online medical resources - and NO SUCH THING EXISTS. The placenta doesn't just move like that. It's not like a baby who can go from being breech to "taking its position." They really should NOT be stating false medical information and citing that as the reason for why they can't get a good picture. Poor professionalism. Even if they offered to reschedule, I wouldn't take them up on it - I don't trust them.

From Our Editors

The technicians at Expectation Ultrasound Studio help parents get to know their babies before their birthday with elective ultrasounds. They wield GE equipment that captures still images in traditional black-and-white 2D, rendered still images in more lifelike 3D, and live rendered video in 4D. These professionals keep the sessions safe by only operating their gear in obstetric mode and limiting screen times to 30 minutes for the health of the little one. Half an hour is usually still enough time to capture fetal performers smiling, hiccupping, yawning, or mouthing the words to the Gettysburg Address.
