It was the worst salon experience I have ever had. I bought a Groupon for my mom and I to get a mani-pedi each. We got to Paris 5-10 minutes early and my mom got in right away. I was told that a manicurist was just finishing up and that it would be only about 5-10 more minutes before I would get in. I worked in the beauty industry for almost 6 years, so this didn't seem unreasonable at first. A few minutes later, I was shoved to the back of the salon by at least 3 different employees. I thought I was just waiting...
When my mom went back, she was ordered around by a lady who barely spoke English. My mom was given about 20 seconds to pick out a color of nail polish from an array of really cheap polishes. My mom tried to ask questions about nail designs and she was told that they couldn't do what she wanted. She asked again and was told "Whatever you want, we do." She was, then, under the impression that she was going to get what she asked for.
My mom has arthritic feet so the pedicure should have been really good for her. But no. The woman was so rough that she ended up cracking her toes, tearing up the bottom of her feet, and leaving the tops of her feet red and puffy. This should not be. Then, my mom asked for french tips for her manicure and was not quoted an exact price.
My mom was about 30 minutes into her appointment before I even got started on mine. I was with a different manicurist, so the process went well, but I was already annoyed that I had waited 30 minutes (remember, I was quoted 5-10). I asked for a french manicure with pink tips instead of white. The manicurist laughed at me and tried twice to convince me to go with the traditional french manicure. When I wouldn't budge, she begrudgingly gave me a pink french manicure.
My mom's appointment was finished long before mine, but her nails were a complete mess. She went through chemotherapy a few years back and has since had trouble with her toenails. The manicurist clipped them so short that they almost bled. They still hurt days later. Her french tips were so thick that they had to be redone.
When I asked that my mom's nails be redone, her manicurist, who was working with another client at the time, started yelling and actually grabbed my mom's arm. She continued to shout across the salon at my mom, me, and her boss. This is highly unprofessional and makes the salon seem like a dump. This kind of behavior is highly unacceptable. At the same time, I was finishing up my manicure and was told that french manicures are $5 extra per hand. Now, I have no problem paying the fee, but if you remember, my mother wasn't quoted a price, so we thought that french manicure was the same as the other manicures.
It was another 15 minutes before my mom's nails actually got redone. There was commotion about her getting them fixed, with employees making comments about how they "don't make no money from Groupon" clients. If they don't like Groupon, why bother offering Groupon deals. That makes no sense at all. What an insult to me and my mom.
The owner thought she was doing a lot to compensate us, but really, little action was taken. We had to go through Groupon itself to get a refund back for the services. The owner should have stepped up and given us a cash refund. I have worked in the salon industry, and that is EXACTLY what I would have done.
The following day, my mom's nails were almost all chipped (and she did very little with her hands in an attempt to keep her nails looking somewhat nice) and one of them had actually torn. It is 3 1/2 days later and neither of us have any polish left on our fingers. I have never had the polish chip so soon. This is ridiculous. I will not be back nor will I recommend this place to others.
