Negret Wine Company's roots go all the way back to 1937 in faraway Bogota, Colombia. That's where Miguel Negret first founded the urban winery where he would produce vermouth, port, and muscat alongside his sons. Later, his grandson, Vincent Negret Jr., would be added to the family business, helping modernize their winemaking craft until political turmoil in Colombia forced them out of business.
However, Vincent Jr. and his own children have carried on the family tradition in Hudson, where the spirit of the their complex, cosmopolitan wines lives on. At Negret Wine Company, you'll find a tidy selection of red, white, and rosé blends made from grape varietals grown by local Wisconsin and Minnesota vineyards as well as grapes from California, Washington and Upstate New York. Visitors can take home bottles or use the tasting room's innovative tap system—which preserves the flavor and cuts down on packaging—to pour samples into glasses. These sips are paired with carefully curated bites of cheese, charcuterie, and bread.
