Brewery Tours of Indianapolis has a simple philosophy: if you have a designated driver for your beer-tasting tour, why stop drinking as long as you do so responsibly? Up to 21 passengers mull over that question as they await pickup by one of the company's luxury buses at Scotty's Brewhouse in Downtown Indianapolis or Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. in Broad Ripple. Before departure, they can fill up growlers with their favorite craft brew to enjoy on the bus, which offers coolers and cups for in-transit drinking. (Complimentary bottled water is available as well.)
An ideal outing for birthdays, bachelor parties, or sating curiosity about the Indy beer scene, the tour itself lasts about 3.5 hours and stops at four local breweries. Depending on the day, these establishments may include the dog-friendly Bier Brewery, which specializes in American styles; the medal-winning Sun King Brewery, the first full-scale production brewery in Indianapolis since 1948; and Indiana City Brewing Co., where handcrafted ales are made in a Prohibition-era bottling house. Altogether, tour-goers can sample 15–20 different beers, plus any pints and growlers they may purchase along the way.
