Serving the south side of Indianapolis for more than 50 years, Maria’s Pizza offers sandwiches, pasta and specialty pizzas in a simple, diner-like setting. Homemade crust and pizza sauce recipes have remained virtually unchanged since Maria’s first began operation in 1955 on Fountain Square. Patrons can choose from stromboli, Italian steak or meatball sandwiches for quick take-away options, or stick around for traditional plates of spaghetti and meatballs. Ten-inch to 16-inch pizzas can be plied with all the usual toppings, from pepperoni to a pineapple and ham Hawaiian option. Maria’s serves up unique breadstick offerings too, including varieties that are buttered, seasoned with a special pepper blend and filled with mozzarella cheese. Just be sure to save room for gelato at the end.
