The FAA-certified flight instructors at Pilot Jacksonville take new recruits and mold them into bold and courageous masters of the skies. While this might not be every student's goal for flying, all of them nevertheless begin their aerial adventure with a Discovery Flight alongside one of these experienced instructors. A pre-flight briefing reviews safety and answers questions, before student and teacher clamber aboard the small aircraft for up to 30 minutes of pretending to be a flying squirrel. All pupils will get to control the aircraft for a few minutes while airborne, and all receive a flight certificate once they've landed back on the ground and rediscovered their sea-level legs. Furthermore, if students choose to continue their studies, they can count their hours toward an actual Pilot's License.
