About this Business
From Our Editors
Peter Behringer's passion for sweets comes from growing up in the industry. When he was 11, his mother opened a family chocolate business, which eventually expanded to include 32 locations and a large production facility. After college, Peter combined his recent college education with his vast industry experience to further hone his chocolate and candy making expertise. In 2010, he opened his own shop, Sweet Pete’s candy shop, located in a whimsically decorated historic home. His insistence on weaving together simple, all-natural ingredients with an artisan touch earned him the proud title of Chocolatier of the Year for his gourmet chocolate treats, many of which are gluten-free, at Jacksonville's 2012 Taste of Chocolate Challenge. When he's not spinning natural cane sugar into edible masterpieces, Peter hosts hands-on interactive candy-making classes, parties, and events in his candy shop or on location. Sweet Pete's was featured on CNBC's The Profit in 2014. And now the company has teamed with Marcus Lemonis to open a 23,000 square foot candy shop in the historic Seminole Club. The new location boasts a fully functioning factory with an interactive gallery, two large retail areas, a full restaurant and bar, a rooftop patio, and a dessert bar.
