Q&A with Nick, Owner/Manager
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Staying motivated is all about working out in a place that is clean, comfortable, convenient, and friendly. If you enjoy your experience at the fitness center you're much more likely to keep going. Our management and staff are trained to cultivate this environment and make our members feel at home.
But, life does get in the way sometimes and for that we have our attendance based automated emails and the Recovery Report. The automated email system is directly linked to your account and will send you motivational emails if you haven't been attending the gym as regularly as you should. It will also congratulate and encourage you when you are doing the right thing. Also, The Recovery Report tells us who hasn't been to the gym and for how many weeks it's been since their last visit. We then have our staff call each member on the report to give them some extra motivation.
Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?
Our philosophy at Club Metro is to offer resort-style fitness that is affordable for everyone. We have the look of the fancy expensive clubs without the price tag. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced fitness fanatic, we have what you need. We want you to be healthy and happy and will provide you a great facility to achieve your goals.
Has your business won any awards?
We won the Top Appearance Award for all Club Metro franchise locations. We're located in an historic building in Downtown Jersey City that feels more like one of the popular cafes here in the Powerhouse District. Our facility has wide wood beamed ceilings and exposed brick walls all of which are original dating back to the 1800's. We also have 15 large windows that pour in sunlight so you're invigorated from the moment you walk in. It's really unlike any gym you've been to.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
When prospective members walk in to the gym the first thing that I tell them goes something like this: Are we the most affordable gym in the area? Yes. Do we have all top of the line equipment? Yes. But that's not why you should join our gym, you should join our gym because we have the best customer service in the industry. When equipment breaks, we fix it. When members have questions, we answer them immediately. When there's billing questions, we handle it in-house—there's no 800 number to call. We know most of our members on a first name basis and pride ourselves in being the "local" gym for Jersey City. As a family owned and operated business we take pride in our gym and take pride in helping our members achieve their goals.
