First, the food is delicious, the coffee is the best in town, and I appreciate the range of vegan, kid-friendly and gluten-free options: great job on being on top of these important food issues. Secondly, a few recommendations: the staff need to be a little friendlier and more efficient while serving customers; good customer service is the number one reason customers will repeat business, and recommend your business to others. I recognize that it is a co-op, and that there is no management, but the staff should be holding each other accountable to a high standard of customer service (ie. if someone is hung-over, they should be sent home and someone else called in to work their shift). As the only Co-Op cafe in Kingston, the Goat should be a shining example of how well run and successful a Co-Op business can be. Remember that you are business OWNERS (most business owners work countless hours behind the scenes for no pay, because they know it will pay off when it comes to profit share time). Secondly, the bathrooms absolutely MUST be completely renovated; get a loan, and get them renovated PROFESSIONALLY. I personally know at least 20 people who won't go into the Goat because the bathrooms look dirty, are broken and smell bad. Lastly, I never see advertising for the Goat anywhere; I was surprised (happily) to see the Goat Groupon, and happy to purchase the Groupon online; how will people know who you are or what you offer unless you advertise? More advertising, and more things like Groupon, will add to your customer base. All the best, hope you guys can make it work.
