Some restaurateurs get into the industry because they love food, others just hope to make some money. But the family behind Sushi Joa Restaurant went into business to make people happy. At both their Kirkland and Mercer Island locations, they make every decision with their customers' satisfaction in mind, from their attentive service to their fundraising efforts to help local schools and nonprofits.
Of course, all this isn't to say that they don't care about their food. One look at beautifully prepared sushi proves that the chefs take pride in their work. Using only the freshest fish, they slice paper-thin pieces of yellowfin tuna and salmon sashimi to layer over sushi rice. They also create more than a dozen specialty maki rolls, which they painstakingly garnish with delicate microgreens, vibrant pools of dipping sauce, and dollops of fish roe that glisten like jewels.
