Bull Mountain owner Jack Hansen has stayed true to a simple principle in his 45 years in the HVAC industry—make things as easy as possible on the customer. In fact, he often attempts to talk customers through simple fixes of their heating or cooling problems over the phone before sending out a technician. Since Hansen understands that homeowners may not always keep detailed records of their home-maintenance histories, he directs his staff to perform a diagnostic program with more than a dozen points during every service call. But Jack sees the bigger picture, too. To reduce energy costs and help the environment, he has aligned himself with Energy Star, a government program designed to promote energy-efficient practices and prevent local utility companies from turning off the stars.
