I went before the event to get a map. It wasn't ready. I felt awkward even being their asking. Some of the businesses acted really inconvenienced Unicorn Tavern and the Cuban restaurant. I wished there would have been a better description of the individual businesses . I did have a good time. I realize an event like this would have a few glitches. Now I know more about what to look out for. I would go again.

There was some confusion at the places for the taste. Olympic broiler said there was a coupon we didn't get. But we had the bracelet so they accepted it. Pablo didn't communicate well how the people for the taste should move in their restaurant.

One of the businesses, the Tavern, offered half off of drinks and apparently no one was participating at that location. The Tavern owner would have had a better response if he/she had offered some small food item like the other businesses and that likely would have enticed persons to stay and purchase a drink.

A little disappointed in the orgnaization of the event. Some of the vendors ran out of food or it was not obvious when you walked into the place what the procedure was to get food. Need to have designated greeters at each food place When we got our wristbands noone gave us a map or instructions. We had to ask for them. Would have liked to seen open houses at other service esablishments like the Hilltop Yoga or Sierra Club.

Unicorn Tavern is NOT as friendly as we had thought- they were rude. Only bad thing about the Taste Tour 2012.

From Our Editors

Since 1825, the Old Town area has seen both prosperous times and, for the second half of the 20th century, stretches of destitution. Within the last 30 years, dedicated locals have started turning Old Town back around, dropping its building vacancy rates from 90% to less than 10% and establishing a slew of festivals, art venues, and boutiques. The Old Town Commercial Association plays its role in this cultural and economic renaissance by holding the annual Old Town's Taste & Tour to raise funds for community revitalization projects.

More than 300 people attended the event in 2011, sampling bites of cuisine dished out by local restaurants. Owners of local lofts give participants a rare opportunity to tour their unique living spaces and the rooftop cannons that launch them to work each morning.
