Two days before our trip we called this resort to ask if it was safe to travel there for two reasons. The first being a storm that swept through it. The second was a sexual assault allegation that my partner and I read on their actual website complete with medical documentation and proof it was from their hotel staff members to a newlywed wife. They told us no and there was no way they could refund or cancel our trip and the receptionist said that the lady was lying. Of course we did not go. Instead we spent an extra $500 through groupon and changed our trip to Mexico for the same dates. It's unfortunate and we will never travel to the Bahamas because of the unsavory way they handled these issues. Doing our own research we also found many reports on sexual assault to Americans especially in Freeport. Mexico was awesome and will definitely go again!
