A Once-Fun Vegas Classic That’s Lost Its Spark Luxor Hotel & Casino used to be a fun, solid mid-tier Strip property, and I genuinely loved staying here 20 years ago. On this visit, I only briefly walked through and was planning on playing, but the experience got off to a poor start right away—being approached by timeshare reps as soon as you walk in isn’t exactly welcoming. Once inside, the atmosphere didn’t improve. The casino floor felt off, the energy wasn’t great, and the dealers weren’t as friendly as they used to be in the past. On top of that, most of the blackjack tables were 6/5 with continuous shuffle machines, which is a big turnoff. The overall clientele has also gone downhill compared to years past. Years ago, I had a host here and held their VIP card, but at some point the outreach just stopped. I’m not sure if the host left or if no one else ever picked me up, but it was surprising—especially since my wife and I usually play $100+ a hand at blackjack and love playing craps usually at more than that. MGM Rewards has also been completely reworked a couple of times since I stayed here, and in my opinion it’s been poorly handled. The program feels overly “system-driven,” and a lot of the hospitality and personality that hosts and pit bosses used to have seems to be gone. It’s disappointing because this place should work. You’re staying inside a pyramid—lean into the Egyptian theme and do it well instead of drifting away from what made the property unique in the first place. With the right planning and execution, this could easily be a great mid-tier, fun casino hotel again. The location is still a plus, though. You can quickly walk to about five other casinos, which makes it convenient if you plan to spending some of your time elsewhere. Overall, it feels like a missed opportunity and a shadow of what it once was.

Good Hotel. But horrible customer service There were more than 100 people waiting to check when we arrived and thankfully we were offered instant check in via an App. This meant we could skip the line for which we were very grateful. The room was quiet, comfortable, nice and big. However, we did have a water leak by the window which made a lot of noise (due to dripping constantly). The Hotel was very quick to refund our resort fees as compensation with an apology. Other than that, the bed was very comfortable, bathroom was clean, but we had no view. We found some of the staff quite rude, especially when we were trying to get information, get directions and also at check out, which we did not appreciate. No one smiled or greeted us in a nice and friendly manner. We would consider staying there again, as it was very reasonably priced for the time of year we were there (ie NYE!).

It's getting a little meh. We had a tower room on the 20th floor. The elevators were pretty beat up and dirty inside. In the waiting area for the elevators on the 20th floor, one of the down buttons was punched inward, leaving a big hole. We were there for 5 days and it was never fixed. The King room was nice and big, but it was looking dingy. The mattress was about 4-5" short, exposing the wooden base at the foot. We saw a lot more frowning faced staff then usual. But, we still had fun. The casino was fun. There are two Starbucks, so getting morning coffee was quick and easy. We ate at the Public House and had cocktails at the Center Bar. Drinks are pricey. It was an overall great trip. We'll probably stay somewhere else next time to compare.
