I grew up in Independence and gained most of my dog and puppy training experience in the last 14 years while working with MoKan Border Collie Rescue. As a foster mom for four or five shelter dogs each year, I've learned quite a bit in terms of creativity in training! I grew up with Cairn Terriers and currently have two purebred Border collies and a 3-legged Aussie/Shepherd mix. I have been teaching puppy, obedience and beginning agility classes for six years and love seeing owners and dogs connect and enjoy one another. I especially like the intelligence and challenge of the herding breeds. My Aussie/Shepherd mix was painfully shy so I also have a soft spot for the shy dogs. I am a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
I have been teaching dog and puppy classes for 13 years and my love for animals will keep me training for many more!! In 2001 I started showing my Akita puppy in AKC Conformation and took her on to become a Finished Champion. I have owned Akitas, Chows, German Shepherds and some mixed breeds over the years. I currently have in my pack two black Labs and a Golden Retriever mix. I enjoy teaching and being able to bring the bond of human and dog together so they can live a well-balanced life.
