Although the milk white lilies, magenta orchids, and vibrant greenery of Kelly Acock’s artistic floral arrangements fade and wilt with time, they’ve been memorialized long past their lifespan in publications such as International Floral Art, Nell Hill’s books about stylish weddings and decorating Christmas trees, and EA Bride Magazine. In addition to print credentials, Acock’s elegant creations have also snagged awards from the likes of WeddingWire, CityVoter, and The Knot. She earns these laudations not just by expertly crafting seasonal bouquets from fresh garden roses and hydrangea or vibrant sunflowers and eucalyptus, but by adding a creative twist to her centerpieces. Instead of following tradition and making a child sit quietly in the middle of the table, Acock’s deft hands layer vintage plates, tuck tooth-picked nametags into nectarines, light candles inside mason jars, and tie satin ribbons around weathered terracotta pots fuzzed with live moss. Rather than guard her secrets, she shares her tricks with students during workshops.
