They served me a milkshake that has spoiled milk in it. It was horrible. I ha heard all the talk about this place and it did not live up to it. The only plus was when I told the girl about the spoiled milkshake she went and returned saying it was true and helped make it right. But they were also out of fish. On a Wednesday...super weird. I do not plan on returning sadly.

This place was a pigsty. Floors were greasy and every single table was dirty. I asked for a wipe down of a table. It never happened. Garbages were overflowing. Kids in back were throwing a pickle bucket and giggling. Service was slow, even if you only got ice cream. I can't imagine going back, this place was a disaster. It appeared to have potential and the burger was decent, but I felt I was at risk for potential food poisoning as I had no confidence that things were cleaned or cared for. Sadly, the bathroom was probably the cleanest place in the building.

The old menu was much better. The frys were not seasoned, the burgers were undercooked, and the buns were crusty. I was extremely disappointed.

food was poor. The scones were dense and hard, nothing like I have there in the past and NOTHING like Utah scones are supposed to taste like. My kids chicken strips were fried to death, to the point that they couldn't bite into them. I took them back and they were happy to redo them but the second order was only moderately better than the first.

I took my two young adult sons there for lunch. One son ordered the shrimp plate, and my other son and I ordered the Hawaiian Burger. Our hamburgers were overcooked. They were very dry. The fries were just okay. The shrimp basket was underwhelming. We talked about our experience while we were there and unanimously decided it was not a place we would frequent again.

This place needs a whole lot more supervision. If high school students are the only people working, it easily turns into a frat-party--dirty, and no one cares about the impression they're leaving. The night I visited, it was loud and dirty enough that I reconsidered whether I should be eating in a place like Emmett's and Ethel's.

It was very below average frozen food.

From Our Editors

Scott and Nancy Litke opened a roadside food shack in partial tribute to Scott’s grandparents, Emmett and Ethel, who have quite a backstory: After a run-in with the law, Emmett disappeared in 1934, and the couple became a local legend. Just for fun, Scott challenges guests to a bounty game: any customer who brings in someone named “Emmett” will be rewarded with free lunch. The Emmett also receives a shirt and a place on the wall of fame. It’s one of a few challenges the restaurant offers to customers—there are also eating contests, including Man v. Emmett’s Burger and Man v. Ethel’s Sundae.

Since its opening, the “shack” has been updated to become a 2,800-square foot restaurant. The ethic is the same, though: Emmett’s and Ethel’s churns out fresh, homemade food, such as gourmet burgers, hot dogs, and baskets piled high with fish and chicken that has been hand-cut in the kitchen. In addition to traditional malts and shakes, guests can savor parlor-style ice cream sundaes with ingredients such as deep fried peach halves, toasted almond ice cream, and brownies.
