Host to concerts celebrated by the Lincoln Journal Star](http://gr.pn/zuQOEY), Sheldon Friends of Chamber Music has drawn out-of-state musicians to southeastern Nebraska for more than 40 consecutive seasons. The collective’s four or five concerts per year showcase both renowned and emerging ensembles, playing works from living composers and interpretations of 18th- and 19th-century standards that evoke modernity without the need to convert them to ringtones. Intimate performances blossom in the auditorium of the Sheldon Museum of Art, whose wealth of modern art pieces engages concertgoers during intermissions. Contextualizing details in preshow lectures imbue performances with greater meaning, and discounted student tickets help acquaint local youths with the art and elegance of chamber music.
