The food was quite tasty and filling. The server was great. I can't think of anything else that I'd ask for.

If there's only one server running the entire place, turn around and run!

I didn't say I didn't like it. I said it's OK if you like old-fashioned middle--American food. Rather bland, large quantity, uninspired but simple and authentic in that I remember eating this stuff as a kid and liking it. I still like it, but it's not very interesting.

Atmosphere is casual, "western" in motif (trying to be an old restaurant in Texas or something like that, not unpleasant and reminded me of my youth) with large wood booths, high ceilings, like old buildings in small towns of the 1920's. A poker game going on in the rear portion. There was decent country music piped in, but it was not loud. That and the plain, country decor counts in its favor. It was quite comfortable, and I like the atmosphere. Your typical Yuppie or Millennial probably wouldn't. Too middle American for such types. The service was OK. The food was quite "country," old fashioned. We ordered country-fried steak and their version of "blooming onion." All of it was bland and OK. No better, no worse. The onion was fine. The steak was battered (not floured), then probably deep-fat fried. The mashed potatoes were OK, and the gravy over both was pretty good in a bland, flour/pepper way. The green beans with ham were . . . like green beans and ham. The pie was OK. In all, it was familiar from my distant past (my mother was from Texas) and well done for being that. Bland, filling, starchy, done without imagination or flare, but good for all that and kind of hard-to-find these days dishes. A good value for down-home cooking.

Had the Sunday breakfast "buffet". The hash was very good, but everything else was old and you could tell it had been out there a while. There is just not enough volume at that restaurant to get fresh food at the buffet. The made to order eggs and omelet were very good as well, but I like meat with my breakfast and the bacon and sausage just did not make the cut for me.

It was a Sunday, around 5 and the parking lot was empty. We entered and found 3 employees sitting and counting money and talking. The restaurant was just as quiet as the lot suggested. We were seated in the back and ordered our beverages and began to peruse the menus. After placing our meal requests, we were left alone for almost a full 20 minutes. And though we were still the only customers in the place, I still had to hunt for someone to refill our drinks. Then when the food came out, the young waitress came through to my daughter and said,"yeah, your macoroni and cheese should be out of the microwave in a sec." (And they really shouldn't have bothered because my son in law said that it tasted nasty black bacon kind of burnt) To be fair, the food was really good and the waitress did come back several times to see if we needed anything, during our meal. And the price wasn't unreasonable. As we were leaving the waitress did get congratulated, by her manager, for surviving her 1st big party. (There were 7 of us). The young girl felt pretty proud of her attempt, after only 3 weeks. Going there.....? Your choice. I probably won't go back. If I do, I won't go if I'm in a hurry or I'm not carrying my own beverages. But, you decide!!🙄
