After planning her own wedding using predominantly online retailers, Diana Li “was disappointed to see the limited number of truly Canadian e-commerce companies…[specializing] in wedding favours and accessories,” as she stated on TheWeddingRing.ca. Armed with a newly inked degree in psychology, Li found herself at a professional crossroads. After ruminating on the subject and receiving the blessings of her new husband, she created the online iteration of The Wedding Shoppe in 2008.
The nuptial supply hub stocks goods for bridal-party members and the happy couples themselves. The inventory includes eco-friendly invitations and favours, place-card holders and guest books, as well as gifts, many of which are customizable. Supplies for other occasions—bachelorette parties, showers, anniversaries, birthdays, and apocalypses—give satisfied customers plenty of opportunities to revisit the store. The Wedding Shoppe’s staff prides itself on accommodating special orders.
