I was incredibly disappointed with my experience today. The Groupon I bought was for a massage with an option of hot stones or the foot wax. I told the girl at the desk that I would like the wax, and she said that they can't do that with the Groupon deal. I showed her where it says that on the certificate, and she said, okay, for this time we will do it, but next time you have to pay extra. It was strange and confusing. I did not feel welcoming. THEN, I sat down for the massage, and the guy brought out the water, and it was scolding hot, almost burnt my feet. When put my feet in, I took them out immediately, it was painful. I almost walked out at that point, but the guy was very apologetic, and went to the back and added some cooler water. THEN, during my massage, he left and came back, and put this hot stone against my skin, and it WAS SO HOT IT REALLY HURT. I have had many foot massages, and I go in jacuzzi's, and am not sensitive to hot water, so I know it's not me, and that the water really is that hot. I have also had several hot stone massages (you can even see in my Groupon history), and this is the first time I have felt like someone was burning my skin. It was awful. I could see again, that he felt bad, but this is not ok! Then I tried to communicate to him that I chose the paraffin wax, not the hot stones, and he could not understand what I was communicating to him, so he tried to get the girl who was massaging someone else ACROSS THE ROOM to explain to me what was going on, and it sounded to me like she was telling me that they don't have that, which made no sense after what the girl at the desk said, but at that point, I didn't want to disrupt the other people getting massages. When I left, I spoke to the manager (or so she said she was), and she told me that the wax is $5 extra. I showed her where on the voucher it says we have a choice of hot stones or wax, and she said "no we aren't doing that anymore." I said that I would like to talk to the owner about honoring your Groupon deals, and she said the owner wasn't there. The whole experience was just beyond frustrating. I wasn't even give the option to pay $5 extra before or during the massage, only after; before, the girl said they would honor it this time, and during, the girl said "we don't have that."
This experience was frustrating, not relaxing at all. And the massage itself was bad too.
The whole reason I bought the Groupon was that I figured even if the massage isn't great, I"ll get to do paraffin wax, and then that didn't happen.
I am requesting a refund, obviously, and some Groupon bucks, or something for this whole headache.
