A passion for holistic health is in Sue Gisser’s blood. She is the daughter of a nutritionist, and even as a toddler she would go with her mother to yoga classes. She discovered a passion for teaching yoga when she moved to LA and woke up spiritually, but still she wanted more. This passion drove her to develop H2Yoga—a style of aquatic yoga informed by her extensive training in yoga, gymnastics, and physical theatre.
H2Yoga uses dynamic sequences of traditional yoga poses in tandem with water weights and pool noodles to increase each student’s flexibility and fitness. The technique also takes advantage of water’s buoyancy, which reduces the pressure of gravity and facilitates participation for those with physical limitations. In the Lenny K. Swim Academy salt water heated therapy pool, Sue familiarizes students of all levels with her technique through seven class styles. Classes may focus on vinyasa-style yoga, bottom-toning workouts, synchronized breathing and movement, or strength training, which gives students the skills to guard an incarcerated dolphin.
