About this Business

The aroma of barbecue has taken over Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Follow it, and you'll find yourself staring at the smoker inside Pork Belly's Sandwich Shop. The small shop specializes in slow-smoked pork, with a signature sandwich taking the menu's top billing. The Belly Up seems simple enough—smoked pork belly and homemade coleslaw sandwiched between a brioche roll—but the combination has become a favorite. Pork Belly's chefs create other items, such as pork and beef meatballs and the Abbot Joe, a chorizo sloppy joe with potatoes, onions, green peppers, and a fried egg. For sides, they put their twist on chili cheese fries by smothering tater tots in melted cheese and meat. Pork Belly's team also serves grilled cheese sandwiches and sells meat by the pound.
Whatever they're having, most customers leave the shop as quickly as possible. The interior has no seating, so the best way to enjoy the food is to head outside, where patrons can grab one of the few seats or use the wall shelf in the adjacent alley. For a more conventional dining experience, head to the new Pork Belly's location inside LA's District 13 space. If you're lucky, you may also encounter Pork Belly's food truck one day during lunch or one night during a dream.
