Eastside hipster meets farm-to-table foodie at Red Hill, serving up Italian-inflected American fare with flair. The Echo Park restaurant‰Ûªs dÌ©cor is equal parts polished and folksy, with filament bulbs dangling above the open kitchen and shelves adorned with bright jars of pickled vegetables. While the menu changes seasonally, popular mainstays (like cauliflower with oregano, pine nuts and chili Ì_ioli and pappardelle with pulled pork ragu and pecorino) endure. Inventive salads, flatbreads, and meat and seafood dishes round out the dinner selections, which are complemented by an array of eclectic wines. At brunch, the yam biscuit topped with Serrano ham, chard, a poached egg and Parmesan cream is a winner, but the restaurant caters to vegans, too, with dishes like the tofu scramble. Groups of fourteen to sixteen should consider the chef‰Ûªs table upstairs, where, for no extra charge, guests can coordinate a pre-set menu with the chef.
