Making fresh tortillas by hand is a daily activity at Alvarado's Restaurant and Catering. Those tortillas, which carry the fresh, sweet flavor of corn, serve as the backbone of tacos and burritos filled with chicharrones, stewed carne guisada, and other savory meats. The eatery's cooks also simmer menudo every Saturday. The space is flanked by wood floors and simple, clean decor.
