La Barrique is a misrepresentation of a French restaurant. Aside from french fries, there's absolutely nothing on the menu that's of French cuisine. It's menu is similar to a diner's menu, offering two "seafood" dishes- a pot of steamed mussels or salmon. Your only other choices are hamburgers, cheeseburgers, turkey burgers and turkey cheeseburgers. The server was slow and disinterested in her job as if she dreaded her work. The menu did not reflect what was once advertised on Groupon, like the confit duck or as pictured , the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes. You'll find yourself dining in a cozy candlelit setting, yet dining on selections similar to those at McDonald's.

Horrible service, appetizers were ok, entrees were horrible. Do not get the steak! Not sure how you can mess steak up, but they managed! Did I mention the service was horrible?

In fairness to the restaurant, they were under new management the night we went. The waitress didn't even know how to translate the prix fixe menu from the French even though the regular menu had the information. Another point for Groupon's info, this was no deal. We were given the daily prix fixe menu which was identical to Groupon's deal. I don't see where there was any deal. Groupon promo was used as a shill to get us into the restaurant which is not what I thought Groupon was all about.

Thank you for having the Groupon menu ready and making it easy and pleasant for us to us the Groupon. One of the best Groupon experiences we've had.

I find it curious that a french restaurant would run out of escargots on a Saturday evening around 6:00 p.m.

We were disappointed that the menu included as an appetizer, escargot and as an entree, both lamb chops and lamb shank. None of them were available.

From Our Editors

La Barrique's Belgian chef sustains a 60-year tradition of classic French bistro cuisine upon the polished tables of a café heralded by commanding crimson banners. Rich French recipes guide his hands as he bastes escargot in garlic and parsley butter or a plate of mussels with one of four homemade sauces. Paneled in dark wood and accented by red drapes, napkins, and seat cushions, the romantic café glows with light reflecting from the bar's tin ceiling and displays filled with a curated selection of organic French and international wines. The European dining destination—located near Times Square, Bryant Park, Penn Station, and Midtown's theater district—is snugly nestled between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in New York's fashion district, making it a prime spot for people watching or literally romancing a skirt.
