There are two activities best suited for the crisp blue days of early fall: running a brisk 5K, and drinking a frosty craft beer in the sunshine. On October 21 attendees of The Brew Hop 5K and Craft Beer Festival at Randall's Island Park can do both on the same day. Read on to learn more about this combination foot race and beer festival, as well as the charitable efforts that it benefits.
- The Race: Held at noon, the race portion of the day sends runners jogging around the well-manicured trails of Randall's Island Park, an island green space bordered by the East and Harlem Rivers.
- The Festival: Beginning 30 minutes after the race, Brew Hop's craft beer festival invites runners and other ticket holders to indulge in unlimited samples from more than a dozen area craft brewers, ranging from Brooklyn and Sixpoint to Captain Lawrence. Attendees can also grab grub from local food trucks, or pass the time with lawn games and live music.
- The Charity: The Brew Hop 5K and Craft Beer Festival benefits Oceanic Global, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educate individuals on issues impacting the oceans and provide them with solutions for driving positive change.
