The group on was for the Sugar dining den but since the place closed for renovations we had to use it at a pizzeria restaurant instead.

They no longer serve food for the summer, so my Groupon was only of face value. I had to seek several people to even get them to offer me my face value, which was only for bar drinks.

The food was pretty flavorless but the place had a nice atmosphere but I would not go back. The place should just be a club. Everyone was buzzing around getting ready for the party. We was asked to move twice and the back door was left open to bring in a drum set. Which made the room very cold. It seems like the place care more about the club side of things and selling liquor bottles to the VIP guest was a very big thing.

The food was good but we ordered 100 dollars worth of food and drink and they tagged on another 50.00. $24 service charge which they said was the tip. I do not know how they came up with the extra 50. I felt like we were ripped off.

Our waitress, Bette, was excellent. She was attentive and did a great job at recommending items off the menu. The overall experience was great.

I went on a saturday evening with some girlsfriends, we had No Wait. Drinks were excellent! Food was good. DJ began playing music, it was a fun experience. Slightly pricey but groupon helped. My friends want to go back and bring more girlfriends. I will be going back!

Great environment and food portions for a girls night out. Service is great and friendly. Age group seems to be late 20s to 40s which was great! All over awesome time-will go for date night next time with a few couples!

From Our Editors

In 1997, Chef Hok Chin moved to New York City from Hong Kong, where he’d been in training with some of the city’s finest chefs since age 14. Though his culinary talents were already formidable, the ambitious young chef faced a hurdle he couldn’t simply spatula himself over: the English language. Undaunted, he headed back to work the humblest kitchen positions and scrabbled his way back to the top at establishments such as Tavern on the Green, The Mark Hotel, and most recently, La Caravelle. In 2010, the multinational gourmet teamed up with nightlife impresario Brian Rosenberg, and the duo’s new venture, Sugar Dining Den and Social Club, drove Joanne Starkey of the New York Times to rave, “The food is delicious—much better than it has to be—and the service is excellent.”

Something between a nightclub and a fine-dining establishment, Sugar immediately immerses its guests in a world of bright lights, pulsing beats, and an arrestingly modern architectural scheme that sets a decorative forest of tree branches beneath a looming vaulted ceiling. After a dinner of gourmet fusion cuisine, such as Pacific Rim skirt steak with green chili potatoes and hand-cut sweet potato fries with maple-chipotle barbecue sauce, the eating area transforms into a dance floor soundtracked by some of today’s most popular DJs. The cocktail list keeps the party rolling late into the night with charmingly titled offerings such as the Black and White Cookie and the Swedish Fish.
