- paid $50 but had to share cupcake decorating materials between 3-4 people
- only decorated 1 cupcake in 2 hrs, did not learn a variety of techniques
Great cake decorating class. Learned how to make a rose out of icing.
The course was educational, but it was a lot more basic than I thought it was going to be. I would have liked to tried different decorating methods but we only had time to try one method and watch the buttercream.
It was a fun class, and the people were nice. I just wish we had more time to learn the techniques ourselves
Not worth the $49 spent let alone the $199 stated value. The people giving the class were nice enough however, did not learn much. Decorated 1 mini cupcake. Spent most time watching the instructor.
This was NOT a good deal/course. In the 2 hour session the instructor mainly talked about how she got into the business and how many times she was doing this class. We practiced the one technique she taught us on a cupcake...and 3 people had to share one icing bag. that did not give people a chance to really get the feel of anything. The instructor then rolled out some fondant, placed it on a cake, applied a ribbon to it. End of class. We each were allowed a piece of cake upon leaving. The The "8 Piece Decorating Set" that we were given was plastic and cost about $1.50 at Dollarama. For $50 - NOT a good deal. I was embarrassed that I had dragged my friends to this.
It was a horrible class. Teacher was totally unprepared, couldn't see what she was doing, we had to share one decorating tip between 3 people. She gave us one small mini (i mean mini) cupcake to practice on. She rushed to finish 15 minutes early to do another class. I actually complained to get my money back which i never usually do.
I wanted more hands on decorating. All the classmates received decorating tips but no one knew how to use it. It was not demonstrated. I wanted basic swirls for decorating cakes or cupcakes.
The class was not as hands on as mentioned in course intro., the decorating tools provided werw low quality plasyic not worth money, many of them cracked.
Half the class could not see demonstrations s instructor was on one end
I was very disappointed. I had never used groupon before and am now nervous about redeeming my other purchases. I had expected to be able to make and decorate cupcakes and cakes and instead it was a workshop at the library. The class was divided into small groups snd had to share material which did not allow for participants to fully practice any techniques as everyone wanted to try and there were not enought materials or time to practice. The icing was runny and the icing did not hold shapes. I and my guest were very disappointed and thought that we were ripped off as the workshop did not match it's description and I paid &49 per person. I would not recommend this. .
