When Michele and Rosa Di Savino emigrated from Napoli in 1966, they carried with them a few things to remind them of home: a handful of belongings, their four children, and their Italian heritage. Today, their son Joe keeps that heritage alive with Di Savino's Panini Bar. Opened in 2010, the eatery specializes in made-to-order paninis topped with meatballs, breaded eggplant, and fresh meats from a local butcher.
The homemade Italian cuisine doesn't stop at paninis—the restaurant's motto is mangia tutto ("eat all"), and they whip up a little bit of everything back in the kitchen. Other items on the extensive menu include a selection of pastas, steaks topped with a special spice blend and garlic butter, and antipasti that embrace the Old World (calamari fritti) and the New World (nachos). There's also a full bar serving up beer, wine, cocktails, and Italian specialties such as limoncello.
