Be prepared to leave with a few extra bottles of wine! The tour was okay - I wish it was a little more organized and had more visuals - but the owner/tour guide is very knowledgeable. A handout explaining a lot of the science behind making wine would have been more helpful than just a 20 minutes oration. The tasting was great. The owners and staff are very friendly and this vineyard has a lot going on and to be excited about. Overall this was a lot of fun! I recommend this as a fun outing for you and a friend.

Sometimes it isn't explained the way they state it when you get there but with Blue Mountain it was all that more. I learned a lot about wines and the tasting part was outstanding

Definitely call ahead - call by Thursday if you want to go over the weekend. Ask about tours on Sat/Sun. They are a nice place, but get very crowded/busy. If you do your groupon on Sunday, there is a Sangria Sunday with music on the deck, but you need to use Groupon before 1 or after 2 (2:30); there is a vineyard tour at 12 noon. Helpful suggestion to go for the noon tour and then do your Groupon. Afterword, stay for the music on the deck with your bottle or Sangria.

From Our Editors

Joe and Vickie, the owners of Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars, are pinot pioneers. Beginning with a 5-acre experiment in 1986, they discovered that the soil of the Lehigh Valley does a fine impression of French terrain, making it suitable for growing the grapes of cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, and other European varietals. Since then, they've expanded to a 50-acre plot, where they now produce wines that have won awards from the Fingerlake International Wine Competition and Appellation America.

Panoramic views of the Blue Mountains overlook scenic terraces at the vineyards, where grapes spring from soil that soldiers roamed during the Revolutionary War. Tastings, concerts, and other events fill the winery's glass-flanked deck, from wine-and-chocolate pairings to wine-and-more-wine pairings. Many of these gatherings spill out onto a patio surrounded by tranquil ponds. Visitors can admire the vines during tours and adopt their favorites to preserve the vines' flavorful histories.
