Valley Fit Body Boot Camp’s Jon Luckey got his first taste of what life was like as a personal trainer at the young age of 4. No, he wasn't making his Army action figures do squats; rather, he helped his father remove a weight-lifting bar pinned on his neck. His dad had been using his bench press and then suddenly yelled for help when he got trapped under a too-heavy weight. Jon ran over to his dad and managed to help him dump the heavy bar off to one side.
Growing up, Jon had many more encounters with weights as he built up his muscles for soccer, baseball, and American Kenpo martial arts. He also spent a lot of time in the weight room while playing high school and college football and even playing Minor League baseball for a short period.
Since then, Jon has managed various big box gyms in the Valley and run their personal-training departments. Though he loved helping people transform themselves, he didn't like the high turnover rates the big gyms experienced. So he and his brother Adam opened Fit Body Bootcamp, where they help people torch calories and tone up during workouts that are personalized, supportive, and not intimidating.
