It’s all biking and no frills at this Upper West Side cycling shop, a full-service bike destination has been in the Morningside Heights neighborhood since 1998. The store is owned by veteran cyclist and experienced mechanic Marcos Gratereaux, who helps locals tune up their ride and gear up with an assortment of accessories. Champion Bicycles sells, rents and repairs bikes of all types, and even sells skateboards for anyone not inclined to limit themselves to two wheels. Bicycles hang from the ceiling in the store’s main room and from the wall in the attached space, while the area behind the counter is loaded with merchandise like seats, pedals and water bottle holders. For riders on the go, energy bars are available at the counter.
