A dim glow emanates from colored bulbs strung along the patio of Off The Hook Raw Bar & Grill. It lights up the mural of the smiling sun over cool ocean waters, which serves as tantalizing hint of the food to come until the waiter brings along the list of the day's seafood dishes. Off The Hook specializes in the freshly prepared oysters, little neck clams, and shrimp cocktail from the raw bar, which they serve with a choice of tangy and sweet sauces. But that doesn't mean their kitchen is just a few oyster shuckers. They also steam, fry, and sauté seafood to create dishes such as their PEI mussels in Riesling and rosemary, Maine lobster rolls dripping with butter and lemon mayo, and grilled Atlantic salmon. And though they take inspiration from New England cuisine, they also add a bit of Latin flavors with chimichurri sauce, beds of corn pudding, and fries that look vaguely like tiny potato churros.
Alongside these dishes, chefs scoop up sides such as the creamy mac and cheese, as well as fruit-based desserts such as the baked apples topped with cookie crumbs and a swirl of frozen yogurt. Their drinks are just as flavorful as their entrees, with staff making homemade ginger ale, arnold palmers, and oolong hibiscus tea.
