From Our Editors
Owners H. Tres Meyer and Chistien L. Beattie had wine and food pairings in mind when he opened Pour, an Upper West Side wine store in 2006. Instead of arranging the wine and spirits by country, region or varietal, the store groups wines by flavor profile and vegetable or protein pairing. The results are perfect for oenophiles with a tender palate, allowing home cooks and dinner party guests to find the perfect bottle to pair with their evening. The sleekly designed space, done up by architect Wid Chapman, finalizes the store experience. Color-coded tasting notes hang from tags under every bottle, so you can take what reading material you want, meaning there’s always a lot to learn on a trip to this shop. Pour offers daily tastings and a wine club, with a continued focus on small production wines.
