From Our Editors
St. Mark's Bookshop has been an East Village mainstay for over thirty-five years. Generations of New York University and Cooper Union undergraduates, plus local lots of local academics, have perused the bookshelves of this independent shop in search of everything from autographed copies of Claire of the Sea Light by Edwidge Danticat to foreign-language journals. All things literary can be found at St. Mark's Bookshop, including classic and contemporary fiction, poetry, textbooks on graphic design and novels from small publishing houses, with student-friendly hours that keep the doors open until midnight. Occasionally they offer book signings with new and established authors, poetry readings and lectures. Best of all, new and notable books are being added to the shelves weekly, so wandering around among the stacks on any given day is likely to bring a new discovery or a rare find.
