This jewel box of a café serves up artisan pastries, sandwiches and desserts in Washington Heights, mostly to locals looking to satiate their sweet tooth by swinging through the sunny space. The lemon cheese Danish is a more casual riff on an Italian sfogliatelle, and Tanto Dulce’s chocolate croissants and changing array of muffins and scones make for a tempting Continental breakfast setup. Omelets, quiches and savory Danishes are also available, alongside challah french toast and other breakfast specialties. Lunchtime salads, pastas and assorted entrées skew Italian, while brunch is served weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. But it’s those homemade desserts – pies, flan, tarts, cakes and cookies – that are the main draw here, changing often to keep things fresh and match up with the bounty of the seasons.
