This was an event not a restaurant

The event should be hosted in a more spacious environment. There also should be more regulations of the queues for each table. It also wasn't fair that restaurants would run out of food before the event was over because people paid to "Taste New York" but only end up tasting 1/2 of NY.

This was the worst groupon I've ever purchased. It was a disorganized , dirty event with endless lines for food that was mediocre. I want a refund

This event had so much potential but there were too many people in the event and the venu was too small to hold such capacity. I also expected more restaurants to participate in this event.

Tasting ny was not a good experience. It was incredibly crowded, and there was barely any food. You had to wait on long lines to get a drink, use the bathroom, or go on the elevator to different floors. From the description I was expecting numerous food stations from different restaurants (there were only 9), cooking demonstrations (there were none), and I did not expect most of them would run out of food by the time I arrived an hour after the start time. Everyone there was complaining about the crowds and lack of food. This event was poorly organized, and in too small of a space for the number of people that attended. I was very disappointed in the overall experience I had.

Tasting staff said they'd planned to have 1000 attendees and cut it to 852 to reduce crowding. Didn't work. With 1-4 timing, many came at 1, prob to avoid being "late". Even with attempting to control crowd, too many people. Sardine conditions. You could hardly MOVE. No direct line of sight of the food stations. Staircase between lobby and mezzanine is poorly designed awkward, no alternative. Mezzanine area around the staircase and elevators was packed. It was DANGEROUS. Someone could have been pushed or fallen. We saw people taking an open staircase from mezzanine, followed, gave up 7th floor; other people locked out. Mezzanine door should have been closed. NEVER AGAIN!

it was a terrible event. very poorly managed. i would never do it again, and i would like a refund. it was a fire hazard, well over OVER SOLD and it was the worst event i have ever been to in the city. i was embarrassed I brought clients there that go pushed down the stairs shoved the entire time and the food was horrible. When speaking to management they had no one to point to as a leader of the event and no one wanted to take initiative and provide info on a refund.

There were way TOO MANY people cramped in one place. There was only one slow-moving elevator that only took about 6 people at a time out of hundres and hundreds of people waiting. We completely gave up and left early. There were a few tables on the lobby but the place was so cramped it was very difficult to get to the food. I have to say I was very disappointed.

Waste of money. The food ran out very early and due to the crowds you could only get a few things. Not even close to 20 restaurants

From Our Editors

Resident Magazine and Robert “Toshi” Chan—party promoter and majority owner of the Flatiron Hotel—unite to present Tasting New York, a food festival boasting a carefully curated list of top restaurants and celebrities. Guests sample offerings from the likes of IL Tesoro, Pescatore, and the Belgian Beer Café, all while listening to the familiar voice of Fox 5's Ernie Anastos as the emcee. Culinary specialist Claire Thomas, the host of ABC's Food for Thought, will perform a food demo and show home chefs how to keep knives sharp enough to julienne an atom. Other famous faces may stand out among the crowd, such as that of New York Giant Henry Hynoski, former As The World Turns star Eileen Fulton, and CNN journalist Kitty Pilgrim.

As patrons sip, sample, and mingle, Billboard recording artist Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin and rising Broadway singer Hunter Ryan Herdlicka provide a festive soundtrack. A portion of the proceeds benefit St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, a network of 22 nonprofit food pantries, soup kitchens, safe havens, and shelters throughout New York and New Jersey.
